As most forum members will know, the Perseid meteor shower is now active, and sources generally quote July 17 as the date when activity begins. I was interested in NASA research, led by Peter Jenniskens, that found the earliest Perseids to occur at the start of July and for the shower to continue into the first week of September.
I wrote about it here, and there is a link in the article to a cool visualisation of how the meteoroids in the stream are distributed.
The radiant shifts in that time from Cassiopeia to Camelopardalis, so the shower might be better known as the Cassiopeids or the Camelopardalids at its extremes!
