We have noticed that the Forum is not operating as it should on desktops, and are looking to see what we can do about it. Please bear with us in the meantime. It appears to work normally on a phone.

Signs that a page is not working correctly are that the date at the top is wrong, and often the wrong log-out name is shown. One workaround that has some success is to add a question mark at the end of the URL of a page that isn't working, then refresh it. You can often then see the latest version of the page.

We have found that going to popastro.com/forum rather than forum.popastro.com seems to overcome the problem, and we have now created a redirection on the main website to allow for this. But we are still investigating why the issue has occurred.

Hi Robin,
I believe it's a browser issue.
All works well on my desktop using Opera but, as you say, weird things happen using Google chrome and probably other browsers, too.
All best,
David

We have now solved the problem, which turned out to be because the popastro site was cached by our host as a result of high CPU usage. (If you don't understand what this means, don't worry about it.) The enforced cache has now been lifted, and quite why the high CPU usage occurred we don't know, but now we know what caused it we will be on the lookout for it again. The same issue also resulted in lists of news items on the main site not being updated.

Thanks for bearing with us.

Robin
